The Program

What is Civil Air Patrol?

Civil Air Patrol (CAP) was formed on December 1. 1941. The program was originally created to mobilize the nation's civilian aviation resources for national defense service. Since then, Civil Air Patrol as evolved into a public service organization that performs emergency services missions. Civil Air Patrol has three main missions. These are: aerospace education, emergency services, and cadet programs. Civil Air Patrol holds both a cadet and a senior program. Both are vital to the success of Civil Air Patrol's missions.

Why Civil Air Patrol?

Civil Air Patrol is a gateway to many opportunities through life. Not only as a cadet, but as an adult as well. As a cadet, members of a squadron can participate in many activities to expand their skills and knowledge.

Cadets will not only grow their interpersonal skills, but they will also learn all about the sciences of aerospace, emergency services, and leadership. Cadets can also participate in more activities such as CyberPatriots or StellarXplorers to learn more about advanced fields. Cadets can also receive awards, scholarships, and gateways into careers through Civil Air Patrol!

Senior Members get participate in just as many activities. They will learn emergency service operations, aerospace education, and develop more even more leadership capabilities. They teach cadets how to be leaders and assist them in running their activities such annual Minnesota Cadet Competition or the annual encampment.
